OUR SERVICES

Connection Squared takes an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy.

Rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), our framework validates the intense emotions that underpin our daily experiences (accepting that they are a real and necessary part of being human) and then motivates us to make actionable choices that are in alignment with our desired outcome regardless of our current circumstances (committing to ownership of our reality).

Sustainable, Long-Term Solutions

If you’re already working with a therapist, Ali provides parallel guidance with a neurodiverse perspective that makes it easier to put your therapist's advice to good use. This additional support is often necessary for someone who has ADHD and autism blocks that are preventing them from living their fullest life. If you’re looking for a new therapist, Ali provides comprehensive therapeutic services too.

Ali uses her extensive background to guide you in laying out a roadmap to address the challenges coming up in your family, relationships and daily life. These roadmaps include routine accountability and real-life support that address the root cause of the struggles you’re experiencing. For all of Ali’s clients, our goal is to create sustainable solutions that work for you, long term.

Signature Services

FAMILIES WITH ADHD/AUTISM

Neurodivergent family support is designed to help caregivers develop strategies to improve the life experience of their children and set them up for future successes in all aspects of life.

Leveraging your child’s unique values, interests and abilities will provide the framework and positive mindset necessary to develop and implement action plans that improve their social skills, communication, relationship building and executive functioning (mental and emotional regulation).

INDIVIDUALS WITH ADHD/AUTISM

Neurodiverse adults have a unique set of everyday challenges that require a specialized approach to find sustainable solutions that boost confidence and creates long-lasting results.

Life in the real world is messy which makes taking action on traditional therapeutic approaches to neurodiversity difficult. There are many, sometimes unexpected, moving pieces that require a more hands-on, progressive approach to create meaningful shifts in your day-to-day successes.

COUPLES WITH ADHD/AUTISM

Neurodiverse couples will learn new ways of communicating, understanding and appreciating one another in a way that brings joy to the forefront of their relationship.

Relationships where one or both partners are neurodiverse present unique challenges that may not be fully supported by traditional couples therapy. With specialized support, each partner can step into their role in recognizing, accepting and reflecting on ways that they can contribute to a healthy relationship dynamic.

ADHD Assessments & QbCheck

Dr. Ali is certified to perform ADHD Assessments for her clients using the progressive technology provided by QbCheck. This assessment provides the most up-to-date thinking on ADHD from research, diagnosis to treatment and management.

  • QbCheck is an advanced test of objective symptoms associated with ADHD. It is FDA-cleared to aid the professional in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. By using a PC or Mac, QbCheck is used to gain a clear understanding of your symptoms. ADHD has three main symptoms:

    • Inattention – the extent to which someone can remain focused on a task

    • Hyperactivity – the amount of movement, e.g. tapping foot, fidgeting

    • Impulsivity – lack of impulse control, e.g. blurting out answers in class

During the test, you will be asked to perform a 15 or 20-minute computer-based task. The task measures your ability to maintain attention and impulse control. Meanwhile, a web camera uses facial recognition technology to track your movements during the test. The test results are used to create a report which compares your performance to the performance of other people of the same sex and age, without ADHD.

FAQ’S

Connection Squared is a non-judgemental space where information, ideas and emotions flow organically toward comfortable solutions specific to your unique needs. Curiosity is encouraged here as it leads to authentic connections and social support.

Here are some of the most common questions asked by other curious visitors just like you:

  • Yes. I also meet some of my clients in person. We do what works best on a case by case situation.

  • No, I don't directly accept insurance. However, some of my clients opt to pay for the sessions and then submit the invoices (delivered in “super bill” format) to their insurance companies for potential reimbursement. I recommend reaching out to your insurance provider to inquire about the possibility of reimbursement.

  • Connection Squared provides HIPAA-compliant care using SimplePractice for scheduling therapy sessions, video sessions, documentation, and billing.

  • Your SimplePractice invoices and Super Bills are located in your client portal. If you are having any issues accessing your invoice or Super Bill, please click the link below and follow the instructions to locate your documents.

  • Yes & no - I offer QbCheck ADHD assessments which document symptoms, but only in conjunction with your other assessment methods and clinical judgment can an ADHD diagnosis be confirmed. (*link to ADHD Assessment tab*)

  • Neurodiversity is a concept that recognizes and embraces the natural variation in neurological differences among individuals, emphasizing that these differences are part of the normal spectrum of human diversity. It promotes the idea that diverse neurological conditions, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others, should be respected, accepted, and accommodated, rather than pathologized or viewed as disorders.

  • No, many individuals are choosing not to seek formal evaluations by psychologists and instead are opting for self-identification. One major reason is the difficulty in finding psychologists who are skilled and experienced at identifying autism in adults, particularly those who mask their symptoms. This is often due to the high cost of evaluations and the limited availability of qualified professionals in this area. Also, autism is not considered a disorder, which eliminates the need for a formal diagnosis. As an adult, your extensive life experience makes you the best authority on yourself.
